Flexible Pricing G.O. – A Risky Move?

The other day at Lenin Success Meet in Guntur, Producer Naga Vamsi requested AP Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh a flexible G.O. to let Producers fix ticket prices for their films as and when they want. The Minister also responded positively for this request. 

The Producers have been trying for a G.O that will allow them to price their films upto 1000 Rupees without going to Government every time they want. 

But then, this G.O. may become Counterproductive. It has been established many times that Producers have misread the Market Conditions and priced their films wrong.

Many films have suffered because of High Pricing. We have instances of Producers getting Price Hikes for films like MAD Square and Robinhood. 

KCR Government during their tenure gave a Flexible Pricing G.O to allow prices to be increased upto 175 and 295. The industry normalised the upper rates and successfully killed the spirit of ‘Flexible Pricing G.O’.

It will definitely eradicate the hassle of running pillar to post for the G.O but it is not the case with Chandrababu Naidu Government. So, this G.O. can be dangerous if not used properly.

If they do not handle it properly, the Government will also get bad name for facilitating high prices through a Special G.O.
