Trump’s Proposes New Rule: No proof, No Passport!

Besides introducing a series of immigration reforms, another major proposal put forward by Donald Trump’s government is curbing the existing birthright citizens to US born children. Under this crackdown, foreign nationals can no longer rely on simply delivering a child on US soil to guarantee automatic citizenship.

Now, the US State Department has drafted guidelines that could fundamentally alter the application process for children’s passports. If implemented, parents will no longer just fill out basic relationship details on application forms.

Instead, federal agencies could soon require parents to submit strict legal documentation proving their own status before a child is granted an American passport.

Currently, parents applying for a child’s passport must prove their parental relationship and show valid photo identification, but they are generally not required to produce formal evidence of their own citizenship or immigration status.

The goal is to verify that at least one parent meets the administration’s stricter criteria for birthright claims. This proposed change marks a significant departure from long-standing American procedures for minor passports.

The administration claims the rule protects the value of American citizenship by closing legal loopholes. However, the proposal already faces strong legal challenges, with opponents arguing it violates 14th Amendment protections.
