New Producer’s Helplessness Over Star Producer’s Planning

Venkatesh and Trivikram are working together on an exciting film titled Adarsha Kutumbam. Naga Vamsi is the producer of the film. The film was supposed to be released on October 2nd, then postponed to October 9th, and then to October 30th. Interestingly, the film’s postponement has affected the release of other films. Producer Dheeraj, who planned to release his film Summer Holidays on October 30th, is now coming out on November 6th because of this postponement.

Speaking at the film’s press meet today, Dheeraj shared the realistic situation in the film industry, which is not favorable for the producers making small-budget flicks.

Assessing the situation, Dheeraj said, “A film like Adarsha Kutumbam, carrying the names Venkatesh and Trivikram, can pull crowds to theatres even when they announce their film’s release date just 4 days before the release. But it is never the case with small films. For instance, I have spent a lot of money on marketing and spoken to distributors to give a good release for my film. Now that Adarsha Kutumbam is postponed, I am forced to bring the film to a later date, which is November 6th. However, I will have to take a loan to spend fresh on marketing, release, and everything once again. Such problems do not impact big films like Adarsha Kutumbam but will heavily impact small films like mine.”

At the same time, Dheeraj said that a similar situation took place a few months ago in the case of Lenin, where the producers postponed the film multiple times without proper communication to other producers who had already planned their releases.

“Recently in Tamil, Dhanush postponed his film’s release to give way to Jailer 2 and picked a new date such that it would also not impact Suriya’s film because Suriya’s film’s producers confirmed their date first. Similarly, in Telugu, our producers should also ensure that their postponement does not impact others who are already planning to release their films in advance. Having said that, the producers who make big films are in touch with producers of other big films, communicating these postponements and making necessary adjustments. But they are not giving importance to producers working on small films, which is why there is a clear communication gap,” shared Dheeraj.

This is not the first time a situation like this has arisen in the Telugu film industry. Many producers who made small films expressed their anger and helplessness because of the poor planning of some big-budget flicks and the domination of producers at the time of release. Nagarjuna also openly advised the film fraternity to plan films in such a way that they arrive on time and not suffer in the name of postponement.

If the situation continues, it will only create an unhealthy atmosphere in the industry, and it will be a huge hit on the box office collections too.
