Producer Dheeraj Mogilineni, who is producing several small and medium budget films of late and has bagged hits such as Girlfriend under his belt, is coming up with his next Summer Holidays. Ahead of the film’s release, Dheeraj gets candid in an exclusive interview with Gulte pro. As social media is playing a crucial role during the film’s release and initial talks during the films’ premieres, here is producer Dheeraj’s take on Twitter vs Instagram talk.

Responding to the initial talk and reviews, Dheeraj said Twitter reviews are usually so hard to take and they also have a lot of negative reactions. However, he quickly added that usually Twitter reviews and posts are limited to that particular day of release.

Unlike Twitter, Instagram reviews and posts about the films last for a week or more than a week. The algorithm is such that it shows the posts about the film even though the posts were older. This may help the film in the long run and help to pull crowds to theatres.

Interestingly, Dheeraj also shared his honest experience with the OTT platforms. “When a film becomes a flop in theatres and the film’s OTT streaming is due after 4 weeks, the OTT approaches the producers for early streaming on the OTT. Whereas if the film becomes a super hit and still continuing its successful run in theatres even three weeks after the release, the same OTT isn’t ready to postpone their streaming to 5th or 6th week. The OTTs corporate system is such that they’d be ready to take a favour but they’re not ready to return a favour.”

Dheeraj Mogilineni said Couple Friendly was a good movie, but it couldn’t do well in theatres back then as the film’s music wasn’t a success. For any romantic movie, songs are very crucial to reach the film to audiences. Also, Dheeraj said the film wasn’t promoted well. He said the film’s team was busy with the post-production works, sound-mixing and editing and bettering the content, but they couldn’t promote and market the film to reach the audiences.
