I Had Tears In My Eyes, While Watching Pallaburusu: Nagarjuna

 
Annapurna Studios is entering an exciting new phase with a renewed focus on fresh, concept-driven cinema. The upcoming Pallaburusu, produced in association with Epic Studios, is among the films reflecting this vision. Directed by Uday Chauhan, the film celebrated pre-release event in the presence of King Nagarjuna.
 
Nagarjuna used the occasion to talk about Annapurna Studios’ 50-year legacy and its renewed production and distribution ambitions. He said the production house has been strengthening its distribution network with the aim of building a sustainable ecosystem for filmmakers. “The producer is always the first person to invest and the last person to make money. We have experienced that ourselves. Keeping that ideology in mind, we wanted to strengthen Annapurna’s distribution. We recently started distribution in Nizam as well.”
 
Nagarjuna said Uday’s narration instantly connected with his personal experiences. “There is no greater fortune than taking care of our parents. They looked after us when we were children. Amala also takes very good care of her parents, and that immediately came to my mind when Uday narrated this story.”
 
The actor-producer was particularly impressed by the way the film turns a seemingly trivial issue into an entertaining conflict. “Initially, when the story was narrated to me, I thought it was about dividing property. But Uday narrated it in such an entertaining manner- a father going to court against his son over a toothbrush. I watched the film and was totally entertained. Without even realizing it, I had tears in my eyes. At the same time, I came away with an uplifting and positive feeling. A film made with so much love can never go wrong.”
 
Nagarjuna further revealed that the project also fits into Annapurna Studios’ interest in representing different regional cultures. “About a year ago, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka visited Annapurna College and asked us why we weren’t making films based on Telangana culture. We had explored Andhra culture through films like Uyyala Jampala and Soggade Chinni Nayana, while Lenin represented Rayalaseema culture. When we thought about doing something rooted in Telangana culture, this story came to us. That is how Pallaburusu started.”
 
With the film set for release on August 14, Nagarjuna ended with an emotional tribute to his parents. “August 14 is my mother’s birthday. I firmly believe that my mother and father’s blessings will be with this film.”
 
Sudhakar Reddy and Muralidhar Goud played the lead roles in the movie which received positive response to its recently released trailer.
