Drug Case: Deepika Padukone’s Ex Manager Denied Pre-Arrest Bail

Deepika Padukone’s ex manager Karishma Prakash has been denied pre-arrest bail by Mumbai court. Karishma, who is being probed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in an alleged drugs case linked to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, had filed an anticipatory bail before the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) court in October last year. She was fearing an arrest in the case and applied for anticipatory bail.

After hearing the extensive arguments made by both defence and prosecution, Mumbai Court’s Special Judge VV Widwans rejected Karishma’s anticipatory bail plea. However, the Special court stayed its order till 25th August, 2021 and allowed Karishma Prakash to approach the Bombay High Court in this matter.

The NCB has been probing an alleged connection between drug peddlers and Bollywood celebrities that came to light after Sushant’s death last year. The CBI is also probing SSR’s death case.

Karishma Prakash had earlier worked at Kwan Talent Management firm with Jaya Shah, manager to Rhea Chakraborty. Sushant Singh Rajput’s ex-manager Shruti Modi too worked at the same firm, as per reports. It is also reported that Karishma is no longer connected with Deepika. After Karishma resigned from Kwan, she is no longer be Deepika’s manager.
