Criminal Case Against YCP MP: AP Police Hesitate!

When it comes to the oppositions, the Andhra Pradesh Police take action within minutes after any unwanted incident occurs. The recent case of former minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao is the best example yet the facts in this case needed to be verified. But it’s been almost one and half months, the AP Police are hesitating to go ahead in a case lodged against YCP MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy.

Going into details, on June 21^st, the Irrigation officials have lodged a complaint against the Ongole MP based on the charges of illegal sand mining in Nellore. The local TDP leaders have provided evidence to the sand mining at Sarvepalli reservoir with photos and based on this, the higher officials directed the irrigation department to visit the Sarvepalli reservoir. Having visited the reservoir, the irrigation officials found out that around 18,629 cubic metres of sand mining has been done whereas approvals were given only for 8000 cubic metres.

So the DE and JE of Irrigation department have lodged a complaint at Venkatachalam police station in Nellore and under sections IPC 427, 21(4) Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, YCP MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy has been named as A2. But post filing the case, the police kept it aside.

When the TDP tried to enquire about the case with an RTI application, this case came to limelight and they were surprised that the police are yet to take action against the ruling party leader.

TDP leader Somireddy Chandrasekhar reacted to this case and added that the MP Magunta’s signature was forged by YCP leaders and MLA Kakani Govardhan Reddy has a hand in this case.

Irrespective of the counter claims, there is a huge criticism on AP police for being absolutely silent on cases filed against the ruling party but taking immediate action against oppositions.
