Cult Classic Prema Desam To Get A Sequel Soon

Prema Desam was a cult classic in Telugu cinema. Though it was the dubbed version of the Tamil film Kadhal Desam, the movie went on to become a bigger hit in Telugu. It made a huge impact on the youth of that generation.

Even the music composed by AR Rahman gained a cult status in various languages. People still have those songs in their playlists. Starring Abbas, Vineeth and Tabu in the lead roles, Prema Desam was directed by Kathir. Now, the talented filmmaker stated that he is in the works of its sequel.

Kathir confirmed Prema Desam’s sequel works in a recent interview with the Telugu news daily Andhra Jyothi. He said, “We have dubbed Kadhal Desam as Prema Desam in Telugu. The dubbed version became a bigger hit than the original version. It was a trendsetter in those times. We don’t see such films these days. Thus, many people have requested me to make a film like Prema Desam. After thinking for a long time, I decided to make a sequel for it.”

“The script works are currently going on. We are planning to make this film with talented newcomers and seasoned actors from the industry. Currently, we are searching for producers as well as actors,” he further added.

Kathir also said that the sequel’s original version will be Telugu and it will later get dubbed in Tamil. “As Prema Desam was a huge hit in Telugu, I want to make the sequel’s original version here. Later, it will get dubbed into Tamil. Thus, I am searching for Telugu actors and producers,” stated Kathir.
