Samantha’s upcoming film Shaakunthalam producer Neelima Guna expressed her concerns over incessant rumours on the actress post her divorce from Naga Chaitanya. She lashed out at people who blamed Samantha for ending her marriage because she allegedly did not want to have a baby.
In an interview, Neelima reportedly revealed that when filmmaker Gunasekhar offered Shaakunthalam to Samantha last year, the actress turned it down because she wanted to start a family with Chaitanya. “When my father Gunasekhar approached Samantha last year for Shaakunthalam, she told us shooting must be wrapped up by July or August as she was planning to have a baby soon with Naga Chaitanya” Neelima told.
Neelima reportedly further said that Sam was worried if the shooting would take up too much time as the period dramas are time-consuming. “She wanted to be a mother; she told us that was her priority”. “However, Sam was happy when we had cut down time due to extensive pre-production and did schedules without breaks” says Neelima
Samantha and Chaitanya, who tied the knot in October 2017, had announced their separation last week in a joint statement. The duo said they have decided to “part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths”.
