Suriya’s recent outing Jai Bhim has landed in legal trouble. Just a few days back, Vanniyar Sangam has sent legal notices to Suriya and his team regarding a few objectionable scenes in the movie. Vanniyar Sangam stated that the film has tarnished the reputation of their community.
After he was served with the legal notice, Suriya was also threatened by some of the Vanniyar community members. Nagapattinam district secretary of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Sithamalli Pazhani Saamy, announced a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh to the person who attacks Suriya.
Thus, the actor has now given police security. Currently, five police personnel are deployed with arms at Suriya’s residence, which is located in the T Nagar area of Chennai.
Vanniyar community has also demanded Rs. 5 crores from Suriya for defaming their community. The actor issued a notice saying that he had no intention of defaming any community.
However, Vanniyar Sangam wasn’t in a mood to hear the actor’s statements and proceeded with the legal notice.
Directed by Tha.Se.Gnanvel, Jai Bhim had a direct release on the Amazon Prime Video earlier this month. Suriya and Jyotika have bankrolled the project under the banner of 2D Entertainment.
