All About Harnaaz Kaur – Miss Universe 2021

And now that India wins Miss Universe after a whopping 21 years, the nation is feeling proud of Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, who became the 3rd person to win the title after Sushmita Sen(1994) and Lara Dutta(2000). On 12 December 2021, the 70th Miss Universe pageant was held at Universe Dome in Eilat, Israel and the 21-year-old Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu of Punjab was crowned by Andrea Meza of Mexico.

Upon being asked, “What advice would you give to young women watching on how to deal with the pressures they face today?”

Harnaaz said “The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing, is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that are happening worldwide. Come out, speak for yourself, because you are the leader of your life. You are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that is why I am standing here today.”

Harnaaz’s Stunning Gown for the big night:

Harnaaz looked like a dream in a sequined gown with a form-fitting silhouette that cascaded into a mermaid’s bottom. It has a slit featured on the front and shiny fringes. The plunging neckline elevated the look to the next level. The glittery creation by designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi left Harnaaz to look ravishing on the stage.

Her Biggest Inspiration; her Mother:

“I am immensely grateful to the Almighty, my parents, and the Miss India Organization for guiding and supporting me throughout. Loads of love to everyone who prayed and wished the crown for me,” Ms Sandhu said. Harnaaz Sandhu credits her mother for being her “biggest inspiration”. “She is the creator of my dreams and the ladder to achieve the same,” the 21-year-old wrote in an Instagram post.

Achievements:

Harnaaz Sandhu started her journey in pageantry when she won Times Fresh Face in 2017, representing Chandigarh at the age of 17. She later won Miss Max Emerging Star India 2018 and the LIVA Miss Diva Universe 2021 title. In 2019, she won the title of Femina Miss India Punjab 2019 after which she competed in Femina Miss India. She was in the top 12 in Femina Miss India.

Born and raised in Punjab, Harnaaz Sandhu attended Shivalik Public School and Post Graduate Government College for Girls, both in Chandigarh. The diva is currently pursuing her Masters’ degree in Public Administration.
