Bollywood’s stalwart Ranbir Kapoor made his silver screen debut with the 2007 film Saawariya, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Not many people know that he also assisted Bhansali for the 2005 film Black.
Ranbir was one of the assistant directors of Black. Apparently, Bhansali also used to abuse and shout at Ranbir on the sets, not caring about the actor’s family legacy.
Speaking at a recent event in Delhi, Ranbir said that not all the directors of this generation are running for commercial aspects in films. There are exceptions like Bhansali as well.
“He used to really treat me as an assistant director. I used to be kneeling down for hours. He used to hit us and abuse us… that only hardens you and prepares you for the world,” stated the Rockstar actor.
On the career front, Ranbir is currently busy with the works of his next two films Shamshera and Brahmastra. The former is being directed by Karan Malhotra and features Vaani Kapoor as the female lead.
The latter is a mythological fantasy that is being helmed by Ayan Mukherjee. Alia Bhatt is playing the female lead in it. While Shamshera is slated for release on March 18, 2022, Brahmastra will hit the screens on September 9, 2022. Apart from these two films, Ranbir also has Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal in the lineup.
