DSP Wants ‘One Movie – One Music Director’ In Bollywood

DSP is basking in the success of his stellar work for Allu Arjun’s Pushpa and is also busy giving interviews on the same. In his latest interview, DSP said that his work for Pushpa is blended within the script. Plenty of movies have great soundtracks, but a few composers are able to blend music into the story skillfully.

Among many fascinating points, DSP spoke on what he feels needs to change about the music business. He said apart from the jobs of an actor, director, the job of a music composer is also one of the most important ones for a film. Recalling the masterpiece works of the legends RD Burman and AR Rahman, Devi said that it is still the tradition in the South where only one music director is assigned to do the whole film and its BGM.

But in the North, every song is done by a different composer, leaving people confused about who composed what. “I feel sad that the song might be a hit but you don’t know the name of the composer. The composer really works hard for that one catchy song and music is not something that you can just wake up one day and do,” Devi said. He further added that when someone is dedicating life, the due credit has to go to the music composer. “I wish this system would come back so that every film has only one music composer. If one person is working on it, he is accountable for the entire jukebox.”

He further said that his dream is to work with superstar Rajinikanth. Devi worked with almost all the biggies but he said he is looking forward to working for Rajinikanth’s film and making his dream come true. In Bollywood, Devi said he would love to compose for Shah Rukh Khan.
