I’m satisfied: RGV After Meeting Perni Nani

Director Ram Gopal Varma met AP Cinematography minister Perni Nani to discuss concerns related to the film industry. After meeting Nani, RGV hosted a press meet and added that he was thoroughly satisfied with the discussion he had with the minister.

“Our one-on-one meeting had a five point agenda. I opposed the reduction of ticket prices and explained to him how the industry will face difficulties if the prices are low. These are my observations because I’ve been in the industry for the last three decades. I only voiced my opinion and I did not place any demands before the state government,” said RGV.

The director opined that reduction of ticket prices is not any political vendetta. “I reckoned the AP government did not lower the price to target Pawan Kalyan or Nandamuri Balakrishna. But that decision will have a heavy impact on big budget films as thousands of people work in it yet the ultimate decision is the government’s,” clarified RGV.

That’s strange because RGV himself stated that the producers will have the right to fix the price of tickets and now he said that the government will take the final call.

RGV also pointed out that he is just a producer and did not meet minister Perni Nani on behalf of the entire film industry. “It’s the responsibility of the government and film industry to resolve the matter at the earliest. Moreover the government is free to take action against fake collections and producers who evade tax,” summed up RGV.
