SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 is the last instance a movie has got an extended run at the box office. Now, when people are forgetting the trend of long run for films, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda has brought it back.
Akhanda completes its fifty days run in 103 centres in the Telugu States. Even after 5 to 6 weeks after its release, the movie ran with houseful collections in several centres over the weekends and holidays.
Interestingly, new theatres were added during Sankranthi week. It is Balakrishna’s career-best earner and his first 150 Crore plus grosser. Including non-theatrical business, the film made a total business close to 200 Cr.
Akhanda has taken the hype around Balayya – Boyapati combination to the next level and the appealing content also worked in favour of the film.
Producer Miryala Ravinder Reddy planned the release of Akhanda and its promotions very carefully which helped the film big time.
