Like Any Father, I was Also Worried About Chay: Nag

One of the most shocking and disappointing breakups of 2021 was Samantha and Naga Chaitanya’s separation. Soon after the news, several rumours popped up but Nagarjuna has always maintained silence throughout. However, in an interview with Firstpost, he opened up about his take on the situation.

Nagarjuna says he is very proud of how calm Chay remained throughout the painful period. Despite several baseless rumours, Nag believes Chay did not get disturbed or provoked. “He did not utter a single word impulsively,” he said. But like any father, he said even he was worried about his son.

“But he was more worried about me than I was about him. He would ask me, ‘You okay, Dad?’ and I’d be like, ‘Errr, isn’t that what I should be asking you?’” When asked Chay, he said he is grateful to his family as they stood by him and supported him during the difficult time.

Hours after Samantha and Chaitanya’s separation announcement in October 2021, Nagarjuna issued a statement on social media saying “With a heavy heart let me say this! Whatever happened between Sam and Chay is very unfortunate. What happens between a wife and husband is very personal”.

But after that, he hardly spoke about the matter and only during Bangarraju promotions, did Nag decide to speak about it. Meanwhile, the film concluded its opening week at the Indian box office with Rs. 45.25 crores.
