Ram, Nabha Natesh and Nidhi Agerwal starrer iSmart Shankar completes one year after its release today. However, the team is not gonna have any celebrations due to lockdown. Here are excerpts from interview with the film’s producer Charmme on the occasion.
“Due to corona and lockdown, we are not celebrating the occasion. We are actually in low because of the current situations. But, the way, fans are celebrating iSmart Shankar one year occasion, it gave us lots of energy,” says she.
Charmme made it clear that, Ram was the original choice and there were no other alternatives regarding the lead actor. “The script was meant for Ram. Ram was there alongside Puri, while script work was happening in Goa. By the time, I was busy with other pre-production works.”
She says she predicted iSmart Shankar to become such a massive hit, when she first heard the story. “I was the one from day one challenging everyone that this is going to be a massive blockbuster. My first interview that I gave during the muhurtham of iSmart Shankar, I told that, this film is going to be a full meal feast for fans.”
Charmme affirms that she will not involve in scripts. “Puri narrates entire story scene by scene, after completing the scrip. Our team is very honest with Puri. If we feel anything, we tell him directly without any hesitation. Puri always takes all the advice in a very positive way. Coming to iSmart Shankar, we were clapping, blowing whistles and laughing all through while he was narrating the story. We saw the response in theaters on the same day.”
About the challenges she faced as producer, Charmme says, “Me and Puri, both were very confident about the film. We concluded not to compromise on budget. We wanted to have grand release and planned accordingly.”
Charmme confirms she has no plans of making comeback to acting. “I don’t see myself coming in front of the camera at all. I had decided to bid adieu to acting. When I was mulling what’s next, I thought of taking up film production. Now, I have completely diverted myself to production. I’m really happy what I’m doing now.”
