Uma Maheswara… To premiere on this date on Netflix

With theatres across the Telugu states remaining closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19, several filmmakers are choosing to release their films on OTT. Satyadev’s Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya (UMUR) is also releasing on OTT and this is a known news. This film is one of the most awaited films in Tollywood. This project is directed Venkatesh Maha of C/o Kancherapalem fame.

Earlier, it was said that the film will premiere on Netflix on July 15. But for some reason, it did not happen. Now, the new date is out and we have learned that the film will premiere on July 31.

This film is an official remake of Malayalam blockbuster hit Maheshinte Prathikaaram, which is a Fahadh Fasil starrer and Dileesh Pothan directorial. This film went on to win two national Awards for best original screenplay and the best feature film in Malayalam.

The film was remade in Tamil as Nimir (2018) by director Priyadarshan, but it failed to recreate the magic of the original at the box office. Speculations were rife that a Hindi version is also in the pipeline, but details about the film are yet to be announced.
