The Andhra Pradesh government has issued fresh guidelines on selling movie tickets online. Appointing Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation (APFDC) as Nodal Agency, the corporation will handle the service provider for online ticketing portal.
The guidelines mentioned that all the theatres in the state should make an agreement with the Nodal Agency and only through the provider gateway, the movie tickets should be sold. The portal will be opening booking slots for future releases, a week before the film hits the box office and theatres should sell tickets only through this portal while multiplex chains are allowed to use the third party apps or portals.
However, the big twist in these guidelines is the service charge i.e, commission. For every ticket the AP government will be collecting a two percent service charge and it is applicable for the third party apps and web portals as well. The two percent commission would act like a good revenue source for the AP government.
The details of the web portal launch are yet to be known but based on these guidelines, the interface of the web portal would be developed.
Earlier the AP government attempted to control the ticket prices for big movies but the controversy ended with Megastar Chiranjeevi taking initiative and holding talks with AP CM YS Jagan multiple times.
