OTT Release: Dil Raju Takes The Blame On Himself

Apparently the debate of releasing films on OTT platforms is raging every day in Telugu film industry. While the likes of Raj Tarun, Ram and Anushka have denied the coming of their movies, Orey Bujjiga, Red and Nishabdam respectively on OTTs, it is being said that these stars are actually stopping the OTT deals while producers are interested about it.

Ace producer Dil Raju, however, begs to differ. Sharing his thoughts, the producer revealed that the heroes are not the ones to blame, but it is producers who are not taking the call. “For example, if I give my latest movie (Nani’s V) to OTT, I will not be recovering the total costs and won’t make any profits. So, producers like me are not selling films for a direct OTT release, because of budget issues only” says Dil Raju.

There is a rumour that Nani’s V is offered 35 crores package by Amazon Prime Video, but going by Dil Raju’s revelation, the film might have costed more than that. And then, the producer adds, “If theatres are shut down for 3 more months, then maybe we would consider OTT routes as something is better than nothing”.

Almost a dozen films are ready for release in Tollywood, while a couple of weeks shooting would make another dozen movies ready.
