Superstar Of Women Cricket Failed On Screen!

Of late, we see many biopics on various individuals. Most of them are either political or sports-based biographical dramas. Taapsee Pannu’s Shabaash Mithu also falls under the same category. It is the biopic of former Indian cricketer Mithali Raj.

Directed by Srijit Mukherjee, this film was released last Friday. Since the beginning, there was no big buzz around this movie due to the absence of a big star cast and the backing of a big production house. Even the promotions were dull, and the makers solely depended on word of mouth.

Even the response from the audience is not great either. Many people opined that there is no proper emotional connection or definite highs and lows in the movie. They felt that the second half is dragged with poorly written dramatic scenes.

Already, people have watched many cricket-based biopics like MS Dhoni, Azhar, and 83. Shabaash Mithu needed to offer something unique when compared to those films in terms of storytelling. But it almost reminds us of numerous sports-based biopics we watched in the past.

Thus, the openings were low, the response is poor, and the film may end up as a loss venture at the box office.
