The film First Day First Show is about the protagonist grabbing FDFS tickets of Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s for his girlfriend. Directed by Vamsidhar Goud and Lakshmi Narayana duo, the film’s story was penned by Anudeep KV who delivered a blockbuster with his last movie Jathi Ratnalu. Anudeep spoke to scribes today. Here are excerpts.
Where did the idea of FDFS come from?
I planned to make film with the backdrop of small town, theatre and the Hungama for tickets. It indeed will be a new genre for the audience. We took the pre-release and post release craze of Kushi as the backdrop for the movie.
Do you have experience of watching FDFS?
I don’t like, if I miss first day first show of a movie. I wish to watch first day first show at any cost. It’s a great feeling in small towns. It was not easy to get Pokiri tickets. I’m a fan of Pawan Kalyan and I like Venkatesh as well.
How did you choose Srikanth?
Srikanth is my friend. However, he auditioned for the character and only after producers liked it, he’s cast for the movie. He’s got good humour and he will improvise scenes.
Shall audience have good expectations on the movie?
Like Jathi Ratnalu, FDFS will also have hilarious humour. The movie will definitely reach all your expectations. All the newcomers did perform well. The movie also has well-known faces like Vennela Kishore and Tanikella Bharani.
Why didn’t you direct the movie?
I wanted to direct the movie, but my busy scheduled didn’t permit it. Vamsi directed the movie, along with Lakshmi Narayana. My involvement was there in script writing, re-recording and editing.
Didn’t you feel it risky to make this small storyline as a movie?
The story spans two days. It’s a thin story. It’s surely risky to make it as a movie. I had this idea for long time. After long discussions, we locked a perfect story. However, we penned the dialogue version, only after the release of Jathi Ratnalu.
Tell us about Vamsi and Lakshmi Narayana?
Vamsi and I have similar ideas when it comes to humour. According to him, cinema should be crazy. Lakshmi is a good friend of mine. He reads books a lot. He wrote some serious stories. I told him to co-direct the movie, if he likes the story. He liked the story and did the movie. Both Vamsi and Lakshmi have got good humour.
Do you discuss about your stories with Nag Ashwin?
No, he’s very much busy. We don’t discuss about stories, whenever we meet. Nag Ashwin watched FDFS and he liked it a lot. We’re planning to screen the movie for Pawan Kalyan.
What’s the status of Prince with Sivakarthikeyan?
It’s the story set in the backdrop of Pondicherry. The shooting is nearing completion. It will have Diwali release. It’s an out and out love story with humour.
