Is this Director Not Interested In Theatrical Release?

Already various rumours are doing rounds about the absence of director Sudheer Varma from the promotions of “Sakhini Daakhini” movie which features Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas as the leads. Though the production house is maintaining that the director is busy with post-production works and earlier some rumors came that he’s unhappy with Suresh Babu’s involvement in the script, here’s the reason that is being heard in close circles related to the film.

In fact, there is nothing much the makers including the director and producers have done to the script of this film as they have literally retained every single scene from the original Korean movie “The Midnight Runners”. However, with two females playing the lead in this Telugu version while the Korean version has two males, surely some changes are bound to occur. But then, they say that actually, Suresh Babu has promised Sudheer Varma that this film will not have a theatrical release but only a straight OTT release, and that’s what has upset the director now.

At a time when Sudheer Varma’s career is in a rough patch with back to back flops hitting his morale down, he’s said to have done this film only for the sake of survival and he took a word from Suresh Babu that it will not release in theatres. Because the director is said to have felt that making a remake will adversely affect his career.

And now, as he ahs already carved a film with Nikhil which was extensively shot in London, and doing the film Ravanasura with Raviteja, he’s said to be worried that his image will take a further beating if this remake project releases in theatres. The fact is that expect the debut film Swamy Ra Ra, Sudheer Varma scored no big hit later, and if this remake turns out to be a hit, at least he will get a good name as a director.
