Suriya Sivakumar’s Soorarai Pottru, which is releasing in Telugu as Akasame Ne Haddura, directed by Sudha Kongara, is all set to release on OTT and this is the most unexpected news in recent times. Amazon Prime Video, and Suriya have officially announced that the film will release on October 30 on the OTT giant and this is no small news.
Nobody has ever imagined that a Suriya starrer would release on a digital platform sans theatrical release but finally, it is happening. This man was threatened by distributors that if he released Ponmagal Vandhal on OTT, they will not screen Soorarai Pottru in their theatres. But this man went against all the odds and chose to do what he and his wife Jyothika believed in. The same way now, Suriya has decided to release this film as well and it will be releasing in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Suriya said, “The moment I heard the script from Director Sudha, I was sure it has to be told and I wanted to produce this film under 2D Entertainment.”
He adds, “Essaying Capt. Gopinath’s character came to me as a challenge, but we are very proud of our final product! I am glad that audiences across the world will be able to watch Soorarai Pottru, on Amazon Prime Video from their homes in these unprecedented times. This film is our labor of love and I am happy that it will now entertain the global audience.”
