K&K’s Demise Marks The End Of A Golden Era

These are the legendary actors who have completely revolutionised Telugu cinema with their dynamic presence in the film industry as leading men, actors, directors, producers and politicians too. They are none other than NT Ramarao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Krishna, Sobhan Babu and Krishnam Raju. Each of them has a speciality and they are always loved by audiences that hail from all sections of society.

With the death of Krishnam Raju two months ago and Krishna’s death today, there are no star heroes from that era left now expecting in photo frames and the hearts of the audience. Of course, the legacy these legendaries have left is no small because of their body of work. Tonnes of actors of the present day imitate these legends and try to tread the path laid by them. The physical presence of the golden era superstars might have ended, but they will be omnipresent in every frame that Tollywood produces every day.

Especially with Superstar Krishna, the Telugu film industry has learnt how to experiment with technology and how to carve biopics of great scale in a short time. At the same time, Krishna used to shoot three schedules in a day and there were times when he shot in Madras in the morning, took a flight to Bangalore for another movie’s song shot, and travelled to Hyderabad on a flight for another night schedule, and then went back to Madras to take part in next day’s shoot. He has released more than a dozen films in a calendar year, which explains his dedication towards work. All this greatness is something that should be included in Text Books for younger generations to learn and grow.

After NTR, it is Krishna who got succeeded as a director in the Telugu industry, and among the present-day superstars, there is no match for these two as no one is willing to direct a film in the first place. Working for years as actors, these legendary people understood the craft of filmmaking well and they have put that into effort carving some beautiful movies.

Well, hope the new-age actors, directors and producers learn things from these ‘golden era’ legends. Let’s remember them in our prayers too!
