South Comes In Rescue Of Bollywood

Bollywood has been in a sorry state after the COVID-19 pandemic. None of its movies was able to do well at the box office. Many big-budget flicks ended up as loss ventures in theatres. Even star heroes couldn’t score a hit.

Finally, senior star Ajay Devgn scored much-needed success with his recent film Drishyam 2. This is an official remake of the Malayalam film of the same name. Abhishek Pathak has directed the project.

Drishyam 2 was released on November 18 and got a good response from the audience. It started off well by collecting a nett of Rs. 15.38 crores on the first day. Due to positive word of mouth, the collections increased on the second day.

Drishyam 2 earned more than Rs. 21 crores on Saturday. May theatres reported houseful for the Sunday’s shows. As per the trade reports, it collected Rs. 27.17 crores on Sunday.

With this, Drishyam 2 collected Rs. 64.14 crores in its first weekend. Going by the performance, it may cross the 100-crore mark this week. Finally, it was a South Indian remake that helped Bollywood in scoring a hit in these tough times. Once again, it is proved that south Indian cinema is the current pioneer of the Indian film industry.
