Actor Chalapathi Rao passed away on Saturday late night. He suffered a massive heart attack and he was rushed to hospital where he was declared dead. Chalapathi Rao was 79-year-old. He is known for several comedy and villain roles. He had played several prominent characters in various successful films.
Chalapathi Rao worked in more than 1200 films and his career spanned over five decades. He turned as an actor with Superstar Krishna’s Gudachari 116 in 1966 and later acted in Krishna and Vijaya Nirmala’s Sakshi (1967). There was no looking back for him since then.
Chalapathi Rao also produced films like Kaliyuga Krishnudu, Jagannatakam and et al. But he wasn’t successful as a producer and hence stopped producing films. Some of Chalapathi Rao’s films include Nagarjuna and Tabu’s Ninne Pelladatha, NTR’s Aadi, Siddharth’s Bommarillu, Sathamanam Bhavathi, Vinaya Vidheya Rama and more.
Chalapathi Rao has three children. His son Ravi Babu is an actor and director. Ravi Babu made films like Allari, Avunu, Anasuya, Nuvvila. Chalapathi Rao’s mortal remains would be kept at Ravi Babu’s house and later they will be shifted to Maha Prasthanam. The family is waiting for the arrival of Chalapathi Rao’s daughter from the US.
