‘Samantha Is True Superstar’

Director Gunasekhar, who usually refrains from making tall statements, has broken this rule at the Shaakuntalam trailer launch event. Gunasekhar went on to heap praises on Samantha, Dil Raju and Dev Mohan. He got emotional while speaking at the trailer launch event. He compared Dil Raju with the likes of MS Reddy, MS Raju and Aswini Dutt. He said because of visionaries like these producers, directors could take daring steps. He said Dil Raju gave him a free hand in budget to make a visual epic like Shaakuntalam.

Stating that Samantha is a true superstar, Gunasekhar said he had considered several names before zeroing in on Sam. He said it is his daughter Neelima Guna who suggested the name of Samantha for Shakuntala. He said there is a lot to speak about Sam and the whole team. Gunasekhar said he is saving his words for the pre-release event.

“Shaakuntalam is India’s costliest female-centric film. The credit goes to Dil Raju,” said Gunasekhar. He said the film is also made in 3D and is set to give a great experience to audiences. Gunasekhar thanked audiences for the terrific response for the Okkadu re-release.

Gunasekhar said there are three heroes for Shaakuntalam – one is Samantha whom he described as the hero of the film, second is Dev Mohan who plays the male lead in the film and third is Dil Raju who is the hero behind the camera. Thus, Gunasekhar sets the expectations bar high for Shaakuntalam. The film is all set to hit the screens on Feb 17th, 2023. Dil Raju called this film as a true Pan India film.
