After her comeback into films, Shruti Haasan scored two back-to-back hits with Krack and Vakeel Saab. For this Sankranthi, she had two releases, Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. She is the lead heroine in both of these Pongal competitors.
Veera Simha Reddy was released the other day. This is a mass masala entertainer that caters to Balayya fans. However, Shruti didn’t get a meaty role in it. She was confined to a glamorous role and a couple of songs. Her role had nothing to do with the story.
Yesterday, Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya was released. Even in this movie, Shruti was given a character that has no scope. She was used only to showcase glamour and sizzle in a couple of songs.
Moreover, Shruti’s pairing with Chiru and Balayya didn’t work for her. Her chemistry with both the heroes didn’t appeal to the audience.
Thus, Shruti didn’t get a good start in 2023, even though she came up with two releases already.
We have to see if she gets a meaty role in her upcoming film Salaar. Directed by Prashanth Neel, Salaar features Prabhas as the lead hero.
