I am still alive and active, Says Sr Actor

Ashish Vidyarthi, a well-known actor, has received positive feedback for his recent work in the Netflix series Trial By Fire. Of late, he is mostly seen in the OTT projects. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, he revealed that his approach to selecting projects has evolved over the course of his career. From taking up any role that is easily available to taking up roles only that he wants to play, the actor witnessed evolution in his thinking process.

“In recent years, I’ve decided to only do the type of work I prefer,” he said.

“After so many years in the industry, I can say that I am getting some great opportunities. I turn down work that I’m not interested in. Now, I’m willing to take on central roles that I didn’t do earlier.”

Vidyarthi also mentioned that he used to do guest appearances, but he is no longer interested in those types of roles. “I now tell them to give me central roles. That’s why I’m happy that I did Trial By Fire,” he said. “When good directors offer you good roles and believe in you, it makes me happy. I’m glad that Prashant Nair, the director, trusted me for these roles.”

The show, Trial By Fire, is based on the Uphaar cinema fire tragedy that occurred in Delhi in 1997. Vidyarthi also worked with Nair on another show, Tryst With Destiny.

Vidyarthi is eager to take on more challenging roles and has a message for casting directors as well. “I would like to tell them that I am still alive and active, and I have worked on my craft. I enjoy acting a lot and I’m willing to do interesting roles that are appropriate for my age. If any writers or casting directors are listening, I am available,” he said.

As for his upcoming OTT projects, Vidyarthi has Rana Naidu and Vishal Bhardwaj’s Khufiya, both set to be released on Netflix.
