Young actress has leveled allegations of sexual harassment by a top director from Malayalam film industry. This has become hot topic in Mollywood right now notwithstanding the Corona pandemic. Going into details, the actress (name hidden) alleged that the director Kamal has sought sexual favours from her to cast in his next film – Pranaya Meenukalude Kadal – back then. She alleged that this took place during the shooting of director Kamal’s previous film Aami (released in Feb 2018) which has Manju Warrier in the lead role.
The young actress alleged that Kamal had breached her trust and sexually abused her on the side-lines of shooting of the film Aami. She said he had taken her to a flat and molested her. She went onto allege that director Kamal had abused her at his official residence. She alleged that director Kamal is a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”.
Responding to the allegations, director Kamal who is also the chairman of Kerala State Chalchitra Academy, shot back saying the allegations are baseless and planned propaganda to tarnish and malign his image in public. He alleged that a former employee of Chalchitra Academy who left the organization due to internal conflicts is behind these allegations bringing up now in media. However, director Kamal admitted that he had received legal notice from the complainant a year ago. He said he had then consulted his lawyer and as per his directions he had waited for the further action of the complainant who had become silent and hence he said had ignored it.
Kamal’s Aami, which won state film awards, was supposed to have Vidya Balan as the lead. However, citing creative differences she had walked out of the film which was later played by Manju Warrier.
