These boycott gang just bark: Prakash Raj

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ has collected Rs 700 crore at the box office and is still reporting decent footfalls. But before the release, the film landed in a controversy over the bikini colour of actress Deepika Padukone. #BoycottPathaan trended on social media for nearly a month. The controversy ended with the makers chopping Deepika’s saffron wear episode.

Actor Prakash Raj who is highly vocal against PM Narendra Modi and the Hindutva groups took a dig at them. Taking part in a debate in Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL) 2023, Prakash Raj hit back at the ‘Boycott Gang.’

“This Boycott gang wanted to ban ‘Pathaan.’ The film collected Rs 700 crore whereas the same gang did not go to theatres to watch a film based on PM Modi’s life and political journey. Modi’s film did not even collect Rs 30 crore. These idiots (boycott gang) just bark, they don’t bite. This gang only makes sound pollution,” said Prakash Raj.

Calling ‘The Kashmir Files’ a non-sense, Prakash Raj added that international media and the jury spit on the film. “The director Vivek Agnihotri is crying that his film is not getting an Oscar. He will not even get a Bhaskar award. In India one can do a propaganda film but one cannot fool the international media and awards which are sensitive,” stated Prakash Raj.

That was brutal from Prakash Raj and he is always critical of the BJP, Modi and Hindutva groups for targeting the film industry unnecessarily.
