When Venkatesh Felt Uncomfortable Delivering Boothulu

Daggubati heroes Venkatesh and Rana teamed up for Netflix’s upcoming series Rana Naidu. This crime thriller is an official adaptation of the American series Ray Donavan. Venky and Rana play father and son in the series. Going by the trailer, Rana Naidu looks like an intense and dark action thriller filled with grey characters.

This is the first time Venkatesh has played such a role in his career. Until now, we have always seen him playing positive characters. In an interview with The Hindu, Venkatesh said he told the people around him about this character and series when he was offered the role. Most of the younger generation people were excited about it. Their excitement motivated Venky to accept the offer. “If I do not take risks, I would not be challenging myself as an actor,” he said.

Rana Naidu showcases Rana and Venky fighting against each other all the time. This is in complete contrast to their real-life camaraderie. However, Venky said it was easy for him to adapt to the role as it is different, and he wanted to see how it looks.

Both actors didn’t face any issues while uttering cuss words in Hindi. But while dubbing the Telugu version, they felt uncomfortable. Keeping his public image in mind, Venkatesh asked the directors to tone down the cuss language in Telugu.

When asked if they will collaborate again, Venky said he might come up with a mainstream action drama with Rana next time. On the flip side, Rana added, “Or we can keep working on multiple seasons of Rana Naidu.”

In other key roles, Rana Naidu features Suchitra Pillai, Surveen Chawla, Sushant Singh, and Ashish Vidhyarthi. It will premiere on Netflix on March 10.
