This Is Sukumar’s First Tryst With Horror

Other day the teaser of “Virupaksha” which features Sai Dharam Tej in the lead got released. No doubt, the teaser is a visual feast with an intense thriller like narrative, and the cinematography is top-notch. Directed by a newcomer Karthik Dandu, it is coming out that the film’s story written by Sukumar is a first of its kind for a reason.

Commercial directors like Sukumar never carve out thrillers or horror films, but then, they will have the urge to do it. It is coming out that Virupaksha deals with the concept of black magic, and especially the popular ‘Ashta Digbandana’ thing where certain places will be locked by witchcraft and none will be able to go inside it.

The title also suggests the same as Virupaksha means formless eyes and formless god. Sukumar is said to have got inspired by the stories of Kashmora and other stuff and carved out this one.

Towards the end of the film, the protagonist will solve the Ashta Digbandana thing through science and brings relief to the people of a village. For a short period, the film even appears like a horror movie and this is the first time Sukumar wrote such content in the first place. We have to see if Sai Dharam Tej will get a hit from Sukumar as his brother got it through Uppena.
