C/o Kancharapalem Director Hurts KGF Fans

There are some directors who make a splash with just one movie and then go into oblivion. One such filmmaker is “C/o Kancharapalem” director Venkatesh Maha whose debut film made lots of noise, but then came up with a remake of a Malayalam film, and then turned an actor. Other day in an interview, he vented all of his frustration about not being able to come up with the next films and made some scathing comments.

“When I’m narrating stories, people say that these are OTT stories. But then, what I’ve narrated are the truly good stories that deserve to be seen in films but not the popcorn movies they are expecting. Popcorn movies are something people will miss out the story even if they are searching for popcorn in the tub but not watching the screen” he made his first comment, accusing the audience. He stated that people are watching the films and getting the wrong message, but they are ignoring the good part of it.

And then, he moves on to criticizing KGF big time, without taking its name. “Will any mother in this world ask his son to become a great man by looting all the gold, and in the end, he dumps the same gold in the ocean? I want to meet that mother”, he says, calling the characterisation as ’Neech Kamine Kutte’. One wonders if the director will even watch any other commercial Telugu films or not, but his version of criticising successful commercial movies and blaming the audience is not acceptable for sure.

The interview has the likes of Nandini Reddy, Indraganti, Vivek Athreya and Shiva Nirvana attending it, and Venkatesh Maha says, “If we all take up a sword than a pen, we will make big blockbusters than anyone else out there”. A pure exaggeration that is, as making commercial movies like a Sukumar, Trvikram and the legendary Rajamouli is no joke. And the above set of directors hasn’t made such true blue blockbusters anyway.
