Oops! Bollywood Remakes A Telugu Flop Now

On one hand, there is talk everywhere that remakes of super hit south films, including some smashing Telugu films are not working out as the likes of Ala Vaikuntapurramloo, Jersey and HIT failed big time. Also, some Mallu film remakes like Selfie also failed to click. Despite the originals being blockbusters, these Hindi remakes met a disastrous fate.

And now, Bollywood folks are coming up with another remake, this time a Tamil movie, Thadam. The original is a runaway blockbuster in Tamil, but then, the Telugu remake “Red” featuring Ram Pothineni is an outright disaster. The film didn’t even appeal to the audience as the double action of the hero, who happened to be twins separated at birth, hasn’t worked out well.

Even after knowing the Telugu result, Bollywood has now carved it as ‘Gumraah’ with Aditya Roy Kapur as the male lead and Sitaramam fame Mrunal Thakur as the inspector who tries to solve the case. Newcomer Vardhan Ketkar has directed the film like how many remakes are actually made by debutants in Bollywood.

Well, already Ajay Devgan’s Bholaa is in line for the March 30th release, which is a remake of Karthi’s Khaidi, and now this Gumraah will hit cinemas on April 7th, 2023. Let’s see what happens to these remakes.
