The way the Netflix web series “Rana Naidu” is being criticised by some Telugu critics, the audience and some people from the film fraternity is right being discussed everywhere. Calling it the gross, bitter and most vulgar show ever, some of them took to social media to express their aversion to the show. But then, one finds it tough to understand these pseudo-intellectuals.
These are the same Telugu critics and folks who hailed the likes of Game Of Thrones, Mirzapur and Sacred Games, where there are lots of love-making scenes, expletives, foul language and vulgar portrayal of certain characters including the main leads. Now that Venky and Rana have indulged in speaking a such language as per the character’s demand, these folks are expressing their disappointment over the series.
And some of these Twitter university experts are saying now that Netflix should be censored as society is getting badly influenced by these types of content. One wonders if films like Srimanthudu and Bharat Ane Nenu changed every person who watched it, while the likes of KGF and Kantaara made people take the law into hands and become criminals and gods.
One point that could be clearly understood is that most of them are actually shocked that Telugu-speaking Telugu stars have done such raw stuff, and they are unable to digest it. But then, one has to talk about the narrative of the show, but not the language, because they wanted to come up with such an expletive show right from the beginning.
Especially with some critics saying that they are getting vomitings after watching the show, one wonders they are creating all this fuss. The simple logic is, if you don’t like expletives on OTT, then don’t watch it. Dot.
