The drug scandal that broke out in the Kannada film industry is shaking the regional film industries. Actress Sanjana Galrani, who acted in Telugu films like Prabhas’ Bujjigadu, Pawan Kalyan’s Sardaar Gabbar Singh, has been arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police of Bangalore.
The arrest of Sanjana is now shaking both Sandalwood and Tollywood as many in the film industry are worried that whose names she would confess in the police investigation.
Earlier actress Ragini Dwivedi was arrested by the CCB police based on a tip off from the accused in police custody. The CCB police have raided Ragini’s house and are said to have found some crucial evidence related to drugs.
Sanjana’s close friend Rahul Shetty has been arrested followed by one Ravi Shankar, clerk at the Regional Transport Office. The duo has good links with Sandalwood actors.
It all started with the Narcotic Control Bureau (NCB) busting a drug trafficking racket in Bangalore on Aug 26 arresting TV actress Anika and two of her accomplices Ravindran and Anoop. Later, Kannada film producer Inderjit Lankesh on Aug 29 made startling allegations that about a dozen Sandalwood actors were into drugs. He had alleged that some actors. musicians have links with the drug mafia and indulge in rave parties.
