After a long gap, Sai Dharam Tej is coming up with his new film Virupaksha. Directed by debutant Karthik Dandu, Virupaksha features Samyuktha Menon as the female lead. It is a supernatural thriller set for a grand release on April 21 (tomorrow).
There are no heavy expectations around this movie. The trailer generated a decent buzz, but the advance bookings are not extraordinary. However, Virupaksha has some advantages to doing well at the box office.
It has a solo release this week. Last week’s release Shaakuntalam became a disaster at the box office. The same is the case with Ravi Teja’s new film Ravanasura. Nani’s Dasara is nearing its final run. On the other side, the summer holidays will start this week.
Virupaksha has become the go-to film for many audiences because there are no notable films to watch. The film will register good numbers at the box office if it gets a good talk.
Next week, Akhil’s Agent and Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 are hitting the theatres. So, Virupaksha has a week’s window to mint good money at the box office.
