Video Talk: Bellamkonda & Barruchaa’s Weak Dance

SS Rajamouli’s 2005 directorial Chatrapathi is slated to be remade in Hindi. However, recent disappointment with Telugu-to-Hindi remakes such as Shehzada, MCA, and HIT has given the team pause.

Many of these remakes have faced the same pitfalls – either sacrificing quality or unabashedly pursuing profits. It remains to be seen if this remake can overcome this precarious precedent and deliver a successful adaptation.

Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas and Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha recently released their new song, called “Bareilly Ke Bazaar,” which is a remake of an old popular hit. In fact, the song is in the film Chatrapathi, which is a remake of the Telugu film of the same name.

The song unfortunately has not been well-received; many viewers point to weak choreography and costume design as key issues and lacking the classic Bollywood vibe. Sadly, Bellamkonda Sai’s previous movies were often criticized for having poor writing, overacting, and over-hyped.

The recent Oscar win of Rajamouli’s RRR has created an immense amount of hype for all of the director’s new and old films. Because of his current international status, a potential failure of the movie could lead to harsh repercussions. As a result, he will be met with an intense level of scrutiny both domestically and abroad.
