Talented actress Bhumi Padnekar other day won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Actress (Critics) for her role in Badhaai Do at the 68th Filmfare Awards. This is the third award she has won, including Best Female Debut for Dum Lage Ke Haisha and Saand Ki Aankh co-starring Taapsee Pannu. Despite her impressive accomplishments, she has unfortunately been met with some negative online backlash from fans.
Since Bhumi Padnekar has posted an image of her sleeping with the Filmfare Award, resulting in mixed reactions from fans. While some praised the talented actress for the win, others argued that this type of publicity is becoming too common and cliched among Bollywood celebrities. Social media posts featuring such award moments have become almost a rite of passage for emerging stars like Ananya Panday for Student No 1 or Kriti Sanon for MiMi also posed the same, yet many feel this type of content is seen as showboating and lacks creativity.
Nevertheless receiving an award is a great achievement and should be celebrated, regardless of industry. It requires hard work to reach the level of success that merits recognition, and there is no shame in feeling proud when an individual or entity is presented with one. Those who are fortunate enough to receive such dues have full license to express their pride in whatever way they choose.
