Virupaksha 2, The Real Truth About The Sequel

Successful movies often spawn sequels as audiences, from Bollywood to Tollywood, anticipate additional content. However, not all follow-up films hit the mark; numerous sequels have failed to make an impact at the box office. Examples in Telugu cinema include Arya 2, Kick 2, Shankardada Zindabad, Sardaar Gabbar Singh, Manmadhudu 2 and more recently Ponni Selvan 2 which has been met with lukewarm audience reaction.

The success of Dharam Tej’s Virupaksha has made it a box office hit in 2023. The movie is still running successfully at the cinemas and is only the second small-budget film to be declared a blockbuster for Tollywood for that year. Fans are eager to find out if Virupaka 2 will be released soon.

Karthik Varma Dandu, the director of the film, praised the script in a statement. While he indicated that there was no rush to produce a sequel, he also noted that if an engaging script came about for Virupaksha 2 at any point, then the film will take off. So, the sequel is not official, but then, they might do it if possible. For now the sequel talk remains to be something to promote the film, that is already doing well.

Further upcoming sequels and prequels from the Telugu industry such as Pushpa 2, Kantara 2, Tillu Square, Hit 3 and Bimbisara 2 is expected to gradually come out in 2023 and 2024.
