Buzz: Vijay’s Remuneration Reached New High

With numerous successful films under his belt, Thalapathy Vijay is today considered a top actor in Tamil cinema. Accordingly, to the sources, he has reportedly been offered a remarkable salary of ₹150 crores for his next ‘Thalapathy 68’. This would make him the highest-paid star in South Indian cinema. Sources say he will also get a major share in profits for this upcoming movie.

Reports also indicate that director Venkat Prabhu and production house AGS Entertainment are involved in the project. Analysts believe the actor’s hefty paycheck is justified given that on the day of the movie’s pooja, Vijay’s salary will already be covered by the sale of satellite and digital rights. With immense popularity among all age groups across India and foreign countries, coupled with a powerful market presence in Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and northern states – ₹150 crores is definitely an offer worth considering!

As reported, he charges around ₹100 – ₹150 crores for each feature film. Vijay also has a few brand endorsements – an estimated ₹10 crore annually – that help to increase his wealth. It’s no wonder then that his current net worth stands at ₹445 crore.

Off-screen, Thalapathy Vijay has a luxurious lifestyle as well; he owns cars like Rolls Royce Ghost, BMW X5/X6, Audi A8 L, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Ford Mustang and Mercedes Benz GLA etc., along with a seaside bungalow in Chennai. With 20 years of experience under his belt and one of the strongest fan bases out there, it looks like none of this success is waning anytime soon.

Vijay’s last three movies have collected approximately ₹300 crores gross worldwide. His previous movie, ‘Beast’, was a commercial success and earned between ₹227–₹250 crore. ‘Master’ also did well and collected ₹220–₹300 crores. The producers are not hesitant to offer Vijay big numbers because of his box office performance, even offering more than ₹150 crores for upcoming projects. If he continues to produce hits, it is likely that he will exceed all existing records at the Indian box office with a ₹1000 crore collection.
