India’s Top Fashion Designer Making Direction Debut?

Manish Malhotra is a name synonymous with fashion a lot, and the way he brought colourful glittering clothes onto the Bollywood silver screen is remarkable.

Even today, the designs of Manish are a huge hit on the screen, and all the top stars of the industry die to wear them, and there is no big film without his involvement. And like all other craftsmen out there, he too wants to try his hand at ‘direction’ which is confirmed now.

According to the grapevine coming from Bollywood, already the pre-production work of a project that will launch Manish as the director almost got wrapped.

News is that the noted fashion designer will be carving out the biopic of yesteryear actress Meena Kumari, who is known as the tragedy queen of Bollywood. Reportedly, star heroine Kriti Sanon might play the role of the leading lady as she happens to be one of the current generation’s close pals with the star designer. Here’s the catch though.

Meena Kumar is the tragedy queen of Bollywood, who started her carer as a child artist and became a superstar heroine by the age of 20 in the 50s era of the Hindi film industry.

However, by 38, she got addicted to alcohol consumption and faced a tragic death. Her life is full of emotions, drama, backstabbing, an abusive husband, failing health, treatment in London, writing poetry, singing songs and much more legendary. Can a newcomer like Manish handle all this with aplomb is something we have to see.
