Without alcohol, I would have been a better person: Rajinikanth

Superstar Rajinikanth was refreshingly candid at the audio launch of his upcoming film “Jailer,” in Chennai on Friday at Nehru Stadium. The Tamil superstar openly discussed his past struggles with alcohol and referred to it as the biggest mistake of his life. He urged his fans not to abuse alcohol and instead consume it responsibly.

During the event, Rajinikanth shared regret about how alcohol had affected his life, stating that if he had not indulged in drinking, he could have served society better and become an even bigger star than he is today.

Interestingly, the actor had previously addressed the issue of alcoholism in his 2018 film “Kaala,” where his character’s carelessness while drunk leads to the loss of his wife. This marked a turning point as Rajinikanth started portraying alcohol and cigarettes in a negative light instead of using them as style statements, as he had done earlier.

Apart from Rajinikanth, “Jailer” features a star-studded cast including Jackie Shroff, Ramya Krishnan, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Vasanth Ravi, and Tamannaah in significant roles. The film, produced by Sun Pictures and with music by Anirudh Ravichander, is set to hit theaters on August 10.
