Box-Office In August: Jailer, Bholaa Shankar, King of Kotha & More

August 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting month for moviegoers in the South Indian Film industry. After a unique and interesting July, which includes Hollywood films Oppenheimer and Barbie, the audience is eagerly anticipating the releases lined up for August.

Among the much-awaited films is Rajinikanth’s “Jailer,” a Tamil movie directed by Nelson. The film, produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures, is expected to mark a massive comeback for both the superstar and the director. Fans are eagerly waiting for its release on August 10.

Dulquer Salmaan’s “King Of Kotha” promises to be an engaging mass entertainer, generating excitement among moviegoers. With Abhilash Joshiy making his directorial debut, the film is scheduled for a festive Onam release.

Megastar Chiranjeevi and Meher Ramesh collaborated for the official remake of the 2015 Tamil film “Vedalam.” The movie stars Tamannaah Bhatia and Keerthy Suresh as well. The film is set to release on August 11.

“Bedurulanka 2012,” a zany dramedy set in East Godavari, features Kartikeya Gummakonda and Neha Shetty in the lead roles. Directed by Clax with music by Mani Sharma, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 25.

Lastly, “Mangalavara,” written and directed by Ajay Bhupathi of “RX100” fame, is set in a 90’s backdrop. The film will be released this month in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

“Iraivan” is another eagerly anticipated Tamil film starring Nayanthara and Jayam Ravi in lead roles. Directed by Ahmed, the movie releases this month.

“Mammootty’s “Kannur Squad,” an investigative thriller, is another top Malayalam film releasing this month.
