Microsoft’s Big Exit Plan: 60,000 Employees Can Opt For Buyouts

Microsoft

One of the biggest companies in the world, Microsoft is currently undergoing a transition period as the company has been aligned with artificial intelligence over human workforce. This major tech giant was recently reprimanded by the US government as they were restricted from allocating green cards in the foreseeable future.

Now we have Microsoft back in the news and again for a negative reason as the company is reportedly offering voluntary exit packages to more than 60,000 employees globally.

Reportedly, Microsoft is offering to buyout more than 60,000 of its employees working in the United States, Canada, India, and other regions respectively. This is roughly 27% of the global workforce of Microsoft, which is pretty significant by number.

This is a part of the broader plan of Microsoft to align with artificial intelligence for daily operations and execution activities. The company has been clearly preferring AI agents over human workers, and this latest decision is clearly indicating the same.

Any employee below the vice president level at Microsoft can take up this buyout agreement where they’d be getting significant severance packages in accordance with their salary and also the tenure at the company. This offer will stand relevant till December and employees can decide on the same accordingly.

This comes shortly after Microsoft had already fired several thousands of its employees globally, including India. They appear to be on the mission of reducing the human head count drastically at this point.
