It Is Not Sentiment, It Is Just Coincidence: Kartikeya

After scoring success with RX 100 and playing villain in Ajith Kumar’s Valimai, Kartikeya Gummakonda is pinning high hopes on his next Bedurulanka 2012, a dramedy film in which he is pairing up with DJ Tillu beauty Neha Shetty. Directed by Clax and produced by Benny Muppaneni, the film is all set to hit the screens on 25th August. Ahead of the film’s release, Kartikeya interacts with the media. He said director Clax, friend of Ajay Bhupati, had narrated the story of Bedurulanka 2012 during lockdown and he immediately agreed to do it.

Quiz Kartikeya over having numericals in RX 100 and Bedurulanka 2012 and ask him whether it was a “hit” sentiment? Pat comes reply. “Numbers in the title are not sentiment. It is sheer coincidence and relevant to the script.”

Talking about his character in the film is Siva Sankara Varaprasad, named after Mega Star Chiranjeevi’s real name. Ask him the story behind it. He admits and explains, “My role name in the movie is Siva. In one of the scenes, I have to say this dialogue: ‘The Siva Show Begins’. We felt that the impact wasn’t, as the name ‘Siva’ is too short. Someone on the set said it would be better if we used ‘Siva Shankar’. Then the name of Siva Sankara Varaprasad came to us.”

Kartikeya reveals Ram Charan’s compliments for the Bedurulanka trailer. He shares, “Ram Charan garu loved the trailer. He said that the music is very good. He also liked the shot-making and pairing with Neha Sshetty. He also said a few other nice things. He also noticed the Siva Sankara Varaprasad reference that comes in the trailer.”

Talking about his recognition in Tamil with Valimai, he shares, “It is true that, after ‘Valimai’, I have gained recognition in Tamil. But not every movie is meant to be released in the Tamil language. A bilingual has to be done only when the story has the potential to be liked by both the Telugu and Tamil audience. After ‘Valimai’, two or three opportunities came my way from Tamil but I didn’t find them exciting.”

Responding to the ups and downs in his career, Karthikeya shares his learning experience. “We learn something or the other from each film that we do. We want every movie to be a hit. We hope for positive results all the time. Over the years, I have realized that I must not do a film just because I loved a point or a scene. I have to go for it only if the entire story is exciting.”

Having said this, Kartikeya is confident of the Bedurulanka’s success. He said the film has shaped up well and the makers are planning for early premieres.
