India vs Pakistan: Cricket Match Called Off, After First Innings

In a highly anticipated cricket match, the encounter between arch-rivals India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 group stage came to a frustrating halt due to persistent rain. The game, which promised an exciting showdown between the two cricketing giants, was eventually called off.

The match, held at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Srilanka, witnessed a thrilling first innings. India, opting to bat first after winning the toss, posted a total of 266 runs on the scoreboard. Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya played pivotal roles in rescuing India’s innings, scoring 82 and 87 runs, respectively.

However, the early stages of India’s batting were marred by the formidable pace attack of Pakistan, with Shaheen Afridi taking four wickets and Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah both claiming three wickets each. Remarkably, this marked the first instance in Asia Cup history where pacers collectively took all 10 wickets.

As the teams geared up for Pakistan’s reply in the second innings, persistent rain showers disrupted play. Despite the best efforts of the ground staff to cover the pitch and outfield, the weather refused to cooperate. Ultimately, the rain played spoilsport, forcing the match to be called off.

India will next play against Nepal on Monday.
