South BO Report: Jawan’s Unexpected Triumph

By Friday morning, the final figures of Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee’s “Jawan” First Day collections will be out for sure. Going by the early estimates, forget about the Bollywood collection, but the numbers the film raked up in the South of India are going to be humongous.

According to trade pundits, Jawan is heading to post more than ₹12-14 crores ‘gross’ collection from Telugu states alone. While the film’s Hindi and Telugu versions are raking huge moolah in A-centres like Hyderabad, Vizag and Vijayawada, even the Telugu version is doing terrific in other centres. Even in Tamilnadu, the film might touch ₹9-10 crore gross figures. Including all the territories and languages of the South, the film might make nearly ₹25 crores on its first day as per early estimates.

Considering the fact that this is Shah Rukh Khan’s first ever pan-India release, and the way the Telugu version songs and trailers are received by the audience, surely this is a big achievement at the box office. If this is the unexpected triumph on Day 1 itself, surely the movie might rake up big numbers at the end of its run.
